Celebration of Teachers Day

CELEBRATION OF TEACHERS' DAY

Every year on September 5, the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is being celebrated as Teachers’ Day across the country. Radhakrishnan was born in a poor Brahmin family in 1888. He was a bright student and through scholarships completed his studies. A great scholar, philosopher and a Bharat Ratna recipient, Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President and second President of independent India.

During his tenure as a President of India (from 1962-67), his students and friends requested him to celebrate his birthday. He replied, “Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers’ Day.” Since then, his birthday has been observed as Teachers’ Day.

AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV

AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV DEVELOPING E-BOOK / VIDEO BOOK

WHAT...
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has proposed to bring out a video book of such unsung heroes from all over India. This can only be possible with the concerted efforts of students, teachers, school leaders and stakeholders of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

Students, who wish to make the documentary film on the subject given or know any Unsung Hero in your neighborhood, may please contact me @ 9810763498 for more details.

WHY...
History is mostly concerned with the past, but it gives strength to the present so that today's society can be studied in the light of the past. Today’s youth are being influenced by the western culture and are drifting’away from our rich culture and heritage. The need of the hour is that they should be motivated to look into the history of our country in the light of the present perspective. In other words, love for their motherland should be awakened in the present day youth by creating awareness through the past glory of our country.

Innumerable events and the untold story of the heroes, some of who have even sacrificed their lives for the nation are either forgotten or did not find a place in the pages of history. India is celebrating "Azadi Ka Amrit Muhotsav" on the occasion of completing 75 years of Independence in the year 2022. On this great occasion, we take pride in bringing out the achievements of our people, nation’s glorious culture and heritage. It is an opportunity and a matter of pride for Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to find such unsung heroes who had made a valuable contribution in various fields for the betterment of our nation and felicitate them by giving a place in the pages of our history. In fact this can be a true tribute to such unsung heroes from us.

There may be numerous forgotten historical evidences, Folk tales, and anecdotes of such people who bad contributed to the nation building but their contribution remains known only in the neighborhood. We feel proud to be acquainted with such unsung heroes who have brought our culture and civilization to the limelight in the world arena through their deeds. It is a, proof that such events and not so well recorded acts of the people too had its own importance in the history of the nation. Finding such people in the neighborhood and bringing them to prominence will build a research aptitude among students and develop a sense of history.

WHO...
Students along with the team of Teachers.

HOW...
The students of KVS are now required to be the forerunners in exploring such unsung heroes in various fields (education, art and culture, social reformation, economic and social development, freedom movement etc.), their stories, events etc. in their neighborhood under the guidance of the teachers to make a documentary video and also prepare a write up both in Hindi and English.

EXAMPELS...
